Here is a video by Stefano Casella with fragments of the drift and the meetings during the week, a conversation with Vincent Moon and the Life Cinema on Friday, March 22nd at the CC Convent Sant Agustí.
Vincent Moon, filmmaker and sound explorer, mystical anarchist, juggler and wandering technological troubadour, follows not the sense of things but their sonority, between heaven and earth.
The Black Anti-Sun spent a week roaming the metropolis at ground level, below the reality captured in the two dimensions of screens and plans. We went out to meet a deeper, unidentified reality, of existences exploring vertical sonorities...
Marius Schneider spoke of the inner melody of the human being, of "the sonorous form and the essential and imperishable rhythm of the man". Singing is the concert of the power of sound and voice with the extra-human atmosphere. Gesang ist Dasein (Singing is being).
We publish the videos of the project Spring 2024 and the latest materials.
Vincent Moon publishes on his channel 10 videos of sound encounters, with texts by Vicente Barbarroja:
With Clara Peya a sensitive time hole, like a rabbit hole in Alice's world, runs through the black and white keys and the lines of the tattoos. Tears in the transparency of modernist architecture with its blue stained glass windows and flower columns, like an urban utopia turned upside down, calling for a finally liberated use.
Sílvia Pérez Cruz - A cor obert (Barcelona, 2024)
El Corazón Abierto (the open heart) is full of ghosts, invisible shadows in the voice, elusive,
sometimes haunted, they are always somewhere else.
They dance between the desire to disappear, under the white sheets,
and the irruption of an inextinguishable wound.
The song exists only
in the dangerous half hour in which it is sung.
The courage of the impossible – singing at the very edge of the world – where we are all African diaspora. «Ayom is a supernatural being that lives in the drums». No matter how much we move on the journey, we are always in the same place, our being-the-here is still here.
It is the depth of the world within us that changes, the place of acoustic and visionary resonance – that welcomes the unfolding of what is – from the intelligence of the heart.
Garot de l'Arboç (Barcelona, 2024)
A big black donkey or Garot enters to dance in the church of Pi. It arrives in a profane procession from the cathedral to the sound of the instruments of traditional trance celebrations: the gralla or shawm, the "sac de gemecs" or lament bagpipe, the flabiol and the tamborí. But who can glimpse it in a metropolis obsessed by what can be seen and touched and counted, closed to the invisible? However, do we not remember when the heart burns, the call to the transindividual coanimation of souls that resounds between the ancient stone of the temples and the streets, especially the streets, when this music sounds? A big black donkey or Garot enters to dance in the church of Pi.
Pepino Pascual (Barcelona, 2024)
When Pepino Pascual opens the doors of his Barcelona studio, he takes us into a labyrinth of sound. It is a journey into the time of the chaos of the continents or a hole in the space of musical order. Former friend and collaborator of Pascal Comelade, with Pepino Pascual everything sounds and sounds better as playfulness.
Dahira Muridiya (Barcelona, 2024)
One Sunday we break Ramadan with the Baye Fall of the Muridiya. The chant that remembers floods over everything. The trance comes like lightning: a body emerges for a moment from the prison of the intellect, in an implosive dispossession, in a dissolving dispossession in the overflowing fullness of ‘what It Is’.
The Baye Fall live in service to the community of believers, especially the Muridiya. In service, the chant that is remembrance of the soul or ananmesis, rhythms the prayer that is life, a spiritual experience. Trance is its counter-rhythm, the irruption of the inexpressive. There can be hypocrisy in prayer, but not in service to others. The chant that remembers floods over everything.
Arnau Obiols (Barcelona, 2024)
Arnau Obiols knows the language of the birds. The song of the atmosphere up there, in the mountains. Music of things between the nostalgia of the shepherds and the restlessness of the animals, and the acoustic shadow of the trees, the stones and the wind. The clouds are so close. But what kind of mountain is it, a mountain that hums the jazz of the earth? It is a mountain that rests on the abyss and the immeasurable. Someone has come down from that mountain, it is Arnau Obiols, and he is calling us. The tradition of what has never been and has always been here, as the Kingdom has always been. "Sapa, sapa verolet,/ coll de cabra, ganivet;/ tant estesses tu a sapar,/ com la cabra minja pa".
Idrissa Kora (Barcelona, 2024)
Idrissa comes from the world of the day before yesterday and lives in the world of the day after tomorrow. With his khora always in the same place under the sun, he travels the country between waking and sleeping, on the open threshold in the park. As an Arab proverb says: “He who does not travel does not know the value of human beings”. Or old John Donne: "To live in one land, is captivitie,/ To runne all countries, a wild roguery".
Marc Vilajuana (Barcelona, 2024)
Marc Vilajuana, a voice travels through the strange suspension of time that pierces the silence. Leaping from the ancient medieval Gregorian tradition to the vagabond abyss of the resonance of the strings that weave the experience. Wandering through the simplicity that invites participation, essential to any ecstatic trance.
Every voice sings, every place sings, every rock has in its virtuality a non-separated soul waiting to be called in its song. We are all awaited on earth.
Margarida Mariño - Nurdles LIVE / by Vincent Moon
The bow tightens the string of the pure acoustic being that sustains us. The hand travels the open paths on the struck cello. Tell me, tell me if the resonance comes from the bottom of the sea of stars. Tell me if what I hear I hear in you. Tell me, or rather let me, the carnival jumps that tear us out of confusion, dancing in the here and now, without time and without history.
